The Shun Hing College A Salon Series aims to invite a variety of speakers to offer their insights on social, cultural, political, historical, economic issues and etc., as well as to encourage vibrant discussions among residents and the HKU community.
About the Talk
This A Salon introduces the ideals and works of IFChina Original Studio (青原色創新實驗室 http://www.ifchina.org/). Founded in Ji’an City, Jiangxi Province in June 2009, IFChina is the first non-profit art and cultural organization of its kind in China. Through film, photography, oral history and theater productions, it collects and shares the stories and memories of Ji’an city and its communities, families and individuals. By documenting the history and reality of one of the most ordinary small cities in China, IFChina aims to raise civic awareness, spur engagement, build up a stronger sense of shared human values, and redefine the relationships among individuals, with the ultimate goal to foster a civil society. In an age of globalization, IFChina also strives to pave the ground for the genuine local culture to grow. It organizes various art and cultural projects, such as architecture and landscape designs, community mural painting, local fashion designs, organic farming, local songs and public art projects.
