Prof. Tao Zhu, our deputy master, announced three cultural events to be held in September today.

EVENT 1: Tao’s Guided “Sectional Tour” of Hong Kong Architecture & Urbanism

From RC to Peak to Central to Kowloon

Description:
Tao Zhu, the architect and Deputy Master of Shun Hing College (Block A), will lead the team to cut a section across Hong Kong’s most vibrant urban area: up to the Peak, down to the Central, across Victoria Harbor, into Chunking Mansions, escalated to the sky lobby of Lanham Place, and ending up Siu yeh-ing at Mong Kok Night Market.

Expected No. of Participants: 15

Cost: RC offers a free bus ride to the Peak. Each member bears his/her other expenditures.

 

EVENT 2: Architect Anderson Lee’s Guided Tour of the College Hall

Date: 9/22/2013

Time: 19:00-21:00

Location:
The College Hall, Residential Colleges on Lung Wah Street

Description:

The soon-to-be-completed College Hall is the largest indoor space in our College. Anderson Lee, the architect who designed the Hall’s interior space, will act as a guide in this preview.  He’ll share his experience of how to confront a myriad of exterior and interior design challenges, turning the Hall into a multi-functional, beautiful and inspiring public space. Details are as follows:

EVENT 3 A-Salon Series: Leo Lee Oufan’s talk “Understanding Hong Kong through Its History and Culture”

Function Room 304, Shun Hing College (Block A)

Description:
This semester, with the theme of “Understanding Hong Kong,” our A-Salon Series plans to invite several prominent scholars and artists to come to share with us their insights about Hong Kong. Our first speaker, Prof. Leo Ou-fan Lee (李歐梵), the renowned scholar and cultural critic, will offer his piercing view of Hong Kong, capturing the history and culture that make the city so unique among the world metropolises.

Expected No. of Participants: 200

Cost: Free
