HKU Shun Hing College will co-host Symposium, a student-run humanities intellectual exchange programme, this summer from 11 July to 9 August.
The five-week seminar programme will be on morality and self-reflection. The texts for discussions are: Symposium by Plato, The Second Sex by Simone De Beauvoir, The Analects by Confucius, Essays by Michel De Montaigne and Confessions by St. Augustine.
Symposium is a non-profit educational project that is dedicated to bringing western humanities seminars to students in East Asia. Initiated by Columbia students in 2013, Symposium aims to cultivate critical thinking skills through interactive seminars based on humanities literatures. It encourages cross-cultural reading and generating new inspirations.
