1. Round I Admission (Readmission)
You must complete both the internal application (a Google Form) and the external application (CEDARS portal online form), as well as attend a college interview to be considered.
1.1 Round I Admission (Readmission) Mechanism of 2025-2026 (updated)
The following current students may apply in Round I:
(UG & PG) Current residents in residential halls for the academic year 2024-25 seeking re-admission to the same hall; or
(UG & PG) Current residents in residential halls for the academic year 2024-25 seeking admission to another hall; or
(UG) Students returning from exchange who had been residing in a residential hall immediately prior to exchange; or
(UG) Current residents who intend to proceed immediately to study in 2025-26 for the MArch, PCLL, or a second undergraduate degree under the “double-degree” curricula
NB:
Applications from current students other than those in the four categories mentioned above will NOT be processed in Round I.
(UG) From the academic year of 2024-25, residents whose residential years are equal to or exceed the normative study period minus one year (P-1) will be given the lowest priority when they apply for residency. Exceptions for special circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with the recommendations from the Warden and endorsement from the Chairman and Vice-chairman of the Committee on Halls. 1.2 Round I Admission (Readmission) Application 2025-2026 (Internal application)
(Application period: April 3-10, 2025)
The application link will be provided through a mass email during the application period. Applicants will receive a copy of their responses upon successful submission.
1.3 Round I Admission (Readmission) Application 2025-2026 (Portal external application)
(Application period: 10:00, April 10 – 17:00, Apr 17, 2025)
2025-26 Round 1 applications via the on-line hall application system are now invited:
HKU Portal (https://hkuportal.hku.hk) → Login HKU Portal → select “SIS Menu” → select “On-line application” → select “Application for Resident Hall” and the appropriate application form according to your current personal particulars and intended status in the coming academic year will be displayed.

1.3 Round I Admission (Readmission) Application College Interview
(Interview period: April 23 – Apr 26, 2025)
(Residents should select Shun Hing College as their first choice only)
1.4 Round I Admission Result 2025-26
Result announcement of Round 1 Admission: 15:00, May 26 2025 (on HKU Portal)
After the announcement of results, an applicant who is offered a place must indicate acceptance of the offer through the on-line system of the HKU Portal (https://hkuportal.hku.hk) → Login HKU Portal1 → select “SIS Menu” → select “On-line application” → select “Application for Resident Hall” → select “Application Status” by 4:59 p.m. on June 2, 2025. The offer of admission will be automatically withdrawn if a student fails to do so.

Acceptance of offer should be submitted by 16:59 on Monday, 2 June 2025. Failure to accept by the deadline will constitute a formal rejection of the offer.
1.5 Round I Admission Appeal
Unsuccessful applicants who wish to appeal against the decision of halls should submit their appeals through the on-line system of the HKU Portal (https://hkuportal.hku.hk) → Login HKU Portal1 → select “SIS Menu” → select “On-line application” → select “Application for Resident Hall” → select “Request for Appeal” within 72 hours immediately following the announcement of the results (i.e. 3:00 p.m. on May 26, 2025).
2. Round II Admission
(Application period: August 8 -14, 2025)
The following students shall apply in Round II:
(1) Current students who have no prior hall experience in 2024-25; or
(2) Students who are newly admitted into a study programme in 2025-26
3. The Central Clearing House (CCH)
The Central Clearing House for halls/colleges/student residences will be opened from early June 2025. Vacancies of individual halls/colleges/student residences will be posted (on a weekly basis) at the following website:
