1. Round I Admission (Readmission)
(Application period: April 11 – 18, 2024)
1.1 Round I Admission (Readmission) Mechanism of 2024-2025

The following current students may apply in Round I:
Current residents in residential halls for the academic year 2023-24 seeking re-admission to the same hall; or
Current residents in residential halls for the academic year 2023-24 seeking admission to another hall; or
Students returning from exchange who had been residing in a residential hall immediately prior to exchange; or
Current residents who intend to proceed immediately to study in 2024-25 for the MArch, PCLL, or a second undergraduate degree under the “double-degree” curricula
NB:
Applications from current students other than those in the four categories mentioned above will NOT be processed in Round I.
1.2 Round I Admission (Readmission) Application 2024-2025 (Internal application)
The application link will be provided through a mass email during the application period.
1.3 Round I Admission (Readmission) Application 2024-2025 (Portal external application)
2024-25 Round 1 applications via the on-line hall application system are now invited. The system is accessible via HKU Portal (https://hkportal.hku.hk) and will be opened to current full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students from 10:00a.m. on April 11, 2024 and will be closed at 5:59 p.m. on April 18, 2024. Students are rcommended to check the details about the eligibilty of application for Round I and Round II respectively.
1.4 Round I Admission Result 2024-25

The residential period for the year 2024-25 is from 21 August 2024 to 30 May 2025 (12:00).
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS: You should login to your HKU Portal for the residential membership offer letter. Acceptance of offer should be submitted via the HKU Portal. If the acceptance of offer is not received by the deadline (16:59 on 27 May 2024), the offer will be automatically withdrawn. Please be advised that students who accept the offer but eventually withdraw from the membership without moving in, regardless of reasons, are subject to a fixed penalty of HK$3,000. Invoice of such penalty would be issued via the HKU Portal upon withdrawal.
WAITLISTED APPLICANTS: If places become available and you are considered for admission, you will be notified of the offer of admission individually via HKU Portal e-mail. Students who do not receive e-mail notification by 30 June 2024 may consider their applications unsuccessful.
UNSUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS: If you wish to have your application reviewed, you may login to your HKU Portal and submit your appeal in the Hall Admission System. Your appeal form should be completed and submitted within 72 hours following the announcement of results, i.e. by 14:59 on 23 May 2024. No request for appeal will be entertained after the deadline.
2. Round II Admission
(Application period: August 9 – 15, 2024)
The following students shall apply in Round II:
(1) Current students who have no prior hall experience in 2023-24; or
(2) Students who are newly admitted into a study programme in 2024-25
3. The Central Clearing House (CCH)
The Central Clearing House for halls/colleges/student residences will be opened from 3 June, 2024 at 10:00am. Vacancies of individual halls/colleges/student residences will be posted (on a weekly basis) at the following website:
If you would like to live in halls/colleges/student residences, please apply online through the above website. Your applications will be handled and considered by the respective halls/colleges/student residences of your choices directly.
4. Postgraduate Housing (PG Housing)
(For newly admitted full-time postgraduate students)
